We Could Be Lions!

We think we are in the hands of smart, educated leaders, philosopher-kings who know what’s best for the world, who actually care about what happens to us. In some rare cases, this may be true and to our benefit.

In my opinion, this is largely an illusion. There is no guarantee of character, ability, or moral-fiber just because politicians win an election. Witness some of our current federal, provincial, and local leaders and bureaucrats – their stupidly, incompetence, narcissism, and corruption – their unapologetic mendacity which borders on moral idiocy, and their tyrannical lust for power, ideological supremacy, and control of resources.

Tracking and contact tracing goes both ways!

Isn’t this evident from the current crisis; the equivocations and contradictions, the incremental erosion of our rights and freedoms? In this age of ubiquitous information, for the first time in history, our leaders and those who are pulling their strings have walked through the door where everyone can see them – and the door has clicked shut behind them. Tracking and contact tracing goes both ways! Now that they have been discovered, the only play they have left is to double down on their tyranny, continue to impose restrictions, and establish a top-down government by fiat that will leave them relatively immune from being sued or removed from power.

Isn’t it obvious by now what’s going on? Are we going to wait around while they pick us off one by one? Are we frogs cowering in a pot that’s slowly coming to a boil?
We could be lions!

And these words shall then become
Like Oppression’s thundered doom
Ringing through each heart and brain.
Heard again—again—again—

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number—
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you—
Ye are many—they are few.’
